Planning & Development Committee member Mike Asmus is a Milwaukee native with a diverse background, and extensive experience that brings a new perspective to the Brooks Board of Directors. Having started his career in agri-diesel mechanics and later transitioned to software publishing, Mr. Asmus has been working in government for over 14 years. He managed congressional campaigns and communications efforts by regional public entities, not to mention the Texas state legislature. His work drew from his knowledge in planning and zoning as chairman, alderman, and mayor during his time in Missouri. Mr. Asmus was appointed to the Brooks Development Authority Board of Directors in April 2015. Since 2011, Mr. Asmus has been serving Congressman Lamar Smith as district director. This service spurred his move from Austin to San Antonio, where he now participates with several community organizations including Brooks City Base.
