SAN ANTONIO — Brooks City Base announced that Industrial Group Southwest (IGX) will develop, construct, and lease the first building of the proposed Brooks Business Park, a 350,000 square foot building intended for light industrial use. Located on 20 acres of land, the building will feature ample parking for the estimated 400 to 900 people who will be employed by future tenants.

“Our chief mission at Brooks is to attract choice employers that bring good paying jobs to the South Side,” said Leo Gomez, Brooks President & CEO. “This project will take us a long way toward achieving our vision where people will grow, prosper and enjoy life at this mixed-use community.”

Construction of the initial development, located off of Goliad Road near City Base Landing, is anticipated to begin in Spring 2017.

At full build out, Brooks’ preliminary development plans call for the Brooks Business Park to feature six available building sites ranging from 30,000 to 600,000 square feet and from around three to 45 acres.

“We think this site will offer attractive amenities to future tenants and employees, including access to major highways, close proximity to downtown, as well as nearby shopping, dining and recreation opportunities,” said Ron Mills, President of IGX.

Manuel Villa, Chairman of the Brooks Board of Directors, agreed.

“There’s a reason businesses are choosing to call Brooks home. It’s a great location with lots to offer and we are very happy to be partnering with IGX to bring more jobs to the South Side,” Villa said.

The announcement comes just a few months after Japanese machinery maker Nissei Plastic Industrial Co. Ltd. purchased 9 acres at Brooks for an injection molding press manufacturing operation. The Brooks Business Park is located near the plant.

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), the exclusive real estate agent for Brooks, brokered the formation of this economic development partnership.
