SAN ANTONIO – The Brooks City Base Board of Directors has elected Mr. Manuel Villa to serve as its new Chairman. Villa has served on the Brooks Board of Directors as the District 6 representative since November 2012 and was the Vice Chairman of the Board. He was appointed by District 6 Councilman Ray Lopez.

“Manny has been a huge asset to the Brooks community,” said Brooks City Base President & CEO Leo Gomez. “He believes in Brooks and its mission passionately. We look forward to his leadership in doing great things for Brooks and the Brooks team.”

Manuel Villa is the President for VIA Technology, a systems integration firm in San Antonio. Villa has served in various leadership positions throughout his career, including Vice President of Business Development for Shirley Data Systems, District Sales Manager for Brother International, and Major Account Manager for ComputerCraft. He serves as an Advisory Board Member to THE CHANNEL CO., an Advisory Member of the Bexar County SmallMinorityWomen, and Veteran Owned Business Enterprise (SMWBE) Program, former member of the City of San Antonio Economic Development Goal Setting Committee program, and also serves on the Channel Vanguard Council and Former President of the Central Catholic High School Parent Teacher Club and Athletic Booster Club. He attended Our Lady of the Lake University, the University of Texas CMBA Program, and completed the Senior Executive Program at Babson University and Dartmouth University.

“This is a momentous time in Brooks’ history and I’m honored to lead in this new position,” said Manuel Villa. “We’ve got the new Embassy Suites hotel coming online, new apartments, a beautiful linear park planned and much more. With the great staff at Brooks and the strong leadership from the rest of the board, I’m thrilled to see what we will tackle next.”

Villa replaces outgoing Chairman Manuel Peláez-Prada, who resigned from the board in August after nearly eight years of service.

The Brooks City Base Board of Directors also elected Mrs. Michelle Rodriguez Krupa to serve as the new Vice Chairperson.

Krupa has served on the Brooks Board of Directors since September 2013, on both the Finance Committee and Planning and Development Committee, after being appointed by District 3 Councilwoman Rebecca J. Viagran.

Villa and Krupa will serve for the remainder of the term ending September 2016.
