SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce awarded Brooks City Base the Max Navarro Public Sector Procurement Excellence Award for its procurement opportunities for small, minority, women-owned and local businesses. The award was given during the 2015 Business Connect, an annual event presented by the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of San Antonio, the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos, and My Business Matches to provide an opportunity for small business suppliers to meet with buyers and decision-makers from key local, state, and national public entities and Fortune 500 private sector companies. The Hispanic Chamber also gave an award to Toyota Manufacturing of Texas for procurement excellence in the private sector.
“The selected firms to receive the 2015 Leaders in Procurement Excellence Awards are catalysts procurement practices to better accelerate SWMBEs locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally,” said Ramiro Cavazos, President & CEO of the Hispanic Chamber. “The governmental and private agencies receiving the awards believe buying from local small businesses who provide the products and services they need directly responds to their consumer base.”
“Our mission at Brooks is to serve as a catalyst for economic development and prosperity, not just within the boundaries of our campus, but throughout the entire community,” said Brooks City Base President & CEO Leo Gomez. “One way we do that is by buying locally and working with local small businesses who share our vision and our commitment to San Antonio. We are grateful to the Hispanic Chamber for this recognition and to all the partners of the Business Connect event for creating more opportunities for small and large businesses and public sector organizations to work together. It’s a tremendous event and we’re honored to be a part of it.”
