SAN ANTONIO – Shortly after witnessing the signing of a special Friendship City Agreement by San Antonio Mayor Ivy R. Taylor between Windhoek, Namibia the Brooks City Base is broadening their approach to building relationships across borders by welcoming a Vietnamese delegation of 12 business leaders. The goal of the Brooks team is to spark trade and business building that aligns with the city’s economic competitiveness goal to improve the San Antonio commercial outlook by the year 2020.
The visiting delegation will tour Brooks City Base campus, a bourgeoning 1200-acre collective of retail shops, luxury residences, restaurants and built-to-suit ready land. An Austin-based asset management firm facilitated the visit, and is exploring San Antonio’s labor market, incentives for investing in commerce, and success stories of business avenues already active in the area, i.e. the Eagle Ford Shale play.
Following this particular delegation visit Brooks City Base officials will travel to Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Mainland China alongside a “roadshow” hosted by SelectUSA, the federal economic development arm launched in 2011 by executive order of President Barack Obama. As an organization SelectUSA staffs help economic development organizations develop and execute strategies in attracting and retaining foreign direct investors. Brooks City Base has worked with SelectUSA in efforts to engage investments from South America, China and the African continent.
In March 2015 Brooks City Base partnered with City of San Antonio Economic Development Department, Economic Development Foundation, Port San Antonio, UTSA Texas International Business Accelerator and Bexar County to attend the 2015 SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington, DC.
