(SAN ANTONIO)– Chef Johnny Hernandez is excited to announce two new restaurants coming to Brooks on the Southside of San Antonio, TX. Hernandez will be adding a fourth San Antonio location of the popular La Gloria, and relocating the current El Machito from the Alamo Quarry Market to Brooks. Both restaurants, located off of Southeast Military and Kennedy Hill Drive, will open in the Fall of 2018.
El Machito’s last day of service at the Alamo Quarry Market is scheduled for Sunday, November 12, 2017. Guests will get to enjoy the traditional mesquite-grilled meats again at its new Brooks location, which will keep the same menu of Mexican style grilled meats such as the cecina asada, cabrito, chorizo verde, and more.

“We’re excited to move El Machito into a new neighborhood and introduce the concept to a new audience. The Southside of San Antonio has been rapidly expanding and we are thrilled to be joining this growing community at Brooks.
We will still deliver the same traditional menu items our dedicated fans already love,” said Hernandez, chef and owner of Grupo La Gloria restaurants. “We are also excited to introduce Brooks to our popular La Gloria concept that includes street foods from Mexico and our delicious margaritas and palomas.”
La Gloria, a restaurant created to celebrate the rich and delicious street foods from interior Mexico, will keep its original menu at Brooks, including tacos al pastor, cocteles de mariscos, panuchos, molcajetes, and more.
“We’re thrilled to bring the Johnny Hernandez brand to Brooks,” said Brooks President & CEO Leo Gomez. “The addition of these two local, high-profile restaurants puts a spotlight on Brooks as an emerging area of San Antonio. La Gloria and El Machito will offer the Southside fresh, new dining options at a location right along The Greenline park for residents, students, and those who work in the area.”
Chef Hernandez’s concepts will be among the first San Antonio-based restaurants to be added alongside The Greenline, a 43-acre urban linear park connecting to the San Antonio River Mission Reach. The two restaurants will sit on a two-acre space at Brooks. Official opening dates to be announced at a later date.
