SAN ANTONIO, TX – Brooks City Base, Phoenix Hospitality Group (PHG) and Jordan Foster Construction today hosted a topping out ceremony as construction reached the final level of the first full-service hotel south of Downtown San Antonio and north of Corpus Christi or McAllen.

The 162,000-square-foot hotel, located near the intersection of South New Braunfels Avenue and Southeast Military Drive, will have 156 suites, 11,000 square feet of conference and event space, a restaurant, a full-service spa and a fitness center.
“With the historic Missions gaining World Heritage status and the remarkable redevelopment of the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River, this area is going to attract many more tourists and visitors. The Embassy Suites will be able to offer an unforgettable experience for folks who want to experience the beauty, authenticity and culture of San Antonio’s South Side,” said Manuel Villa, Chairman of the Brooks Board of Directors.
The $35 million project includes a swimming pool, a pool garden and a dining patio with ornamental trellis and extensive landscaping. Architectural details include a porte cochere and an atrium lobby clad in limestone veneer and topped with a standing-seam metal arched roof.
“We’re pleased with the excellent progress on the hotel,” said Leland Rocchio, Jordan Foster’s Executive Vice President. “This new Embassy Suites will become a destination property for people visiting San Antonio.”
At today’s ceremony, the final structural panel of the hotel’s top floor was topped with a 5-foot tree and signed by dozens of workers and staff before being raised into place.

The full-service hotel is a partnership between Brooks City Base and Boerne/San Antonio-based Phoenix Hospitality Group. PHG has four Hilton properties throughout the region and serves as both the developer and Management Company for the hotel.
“This hotel is a great opportunity for us to get in on the ground floor of a region that’s poised for phenomenal growth. Like our other properties, this will be a top notch operation and we are confident it will be a great success,” said Ed McClure, CEO of Phoenix Hospitality Group.
At Thursday’s ceremony, PHG announced Patricia Conant as the General Manager. Conant brings nearly 30 years of hotel management experience to the Embassy Suites at Brooks City Base.
The engineering design consultant is Pape-Dawson Engineers, the architecture firm is SA Partnership and the contractor is Jordan Foster Construction. Construction began on the Embassy Suites hotel in August 2015 and is scheduled to complete in February 2017.
