(SAN ANTONIO) – Cuisine Solutions, the industry-leading provider of high-quality prepared gourmet entrees, sauces and other menu items to food service providers around the globe, will open its fourth U.S. plant at Brooks. The new plant will add more than 500 jobs to the south side over four years, following initial operations.

“The addition of Cuisine Solutions contributes to our strategic goal of supporting the employment needs of our surrounding community,” said Leo Gomez, Brooks President & CEO. “Our great partners at the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation played a vital role in helping to make this addition a reality for us and we could not be more excited to bring these living wage jobs with industry-best benefits to the south side.”

Working in coordination with real estate investor W. P. Carey and developer Cambridge Holdings, the project cost is an estimated $120 million, the largest single investment on the Brooks campus to date. The 290,000-square foot state-of-the-art facility will be located on approximately 23.7 acres of land on Aviation Landing across from the currently under construction light industrial facility. Construction on the facility is projected to begin in March 2019 with opening anticipated in mid-2020.

“Brooks is the ideal location for us to establish our presence west of the Mississippi River,” said Stanislas Vilgrain, Cuisine Solutions Chairman & CEO. “San Antonio has an industrious and enthusiastic workforce that we’ll tap into to help support our growth and meet the increasing demand for our restaurant-quality products.”

This will be Cuisine Solutions’ sixth production facility, with others located in Virginia, France, Thailand, and one set to open in Pennsylvania. The San Antonio location will bring a level of innovation and technology even higher than their most recent plant located in Sterling and will enable the company to meet increased demand for their high quality sous vide products, for customers in restaurants, airlines, hotels, retail and foodservice business.

“Our community’s growth momentum continues with 500 new manufacturing jobs for our city’s south side,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “Cuisine Solutions’ selection of San Antonio for its fourth U.S. production facility reflects our community’s commitment to being a business-friendly city, prepared to meet the workforce needs of rapidly growing, international corporations.”

“Now is the time to invest in San Antonio and the rapidly developing community at Brooks. We are proud to welcome Cuisine Solutions, the most recent manufacturer to realize its growth potential in San Antonio,” said Jenna Saucedo-Herrera, President & CEO of the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation.

Cuisine Solutions is the third global company to secure a location at Brooks over the past year. Japanese manufacturing company Nissei Plastic Machinery America Inc. opened its first U.S. plant at Brooks in May 2018. European business processing services company OKIN BPS selected Brooks as the site of its U.S. headquarters in October 2018, with operations scheduled to begin in mid-2019.
