(SAN ANTONIO) – City Base Commons, a new 50,000-square foot retail development, is set to open on the Brooks campus this summer. Located on Southeast Military Drive, City Base Commons occupies nine acres and will feature a tenant mix that includes restaurants, retail and medical offices.
Built by local developer GFR Development Services, City Base Commons is 80 percent pre-leased with an anticipated opening date of July 2019. Confirmed tenants include McAllister’s Deli, Jimmy Johns, Raising Cane’s, HuHot Mongolian Grill, Tia’s Taco Hut, Deco Pizzeria, Smoothie King, Mr. C’s Fried Chicken and Waffles, Laundry Rey’s Wash ‘N Fold, Rio Nail Salon and Medusa Hair Salon.
“We are thrilled to continue proving up businesses on the Southside,” said Leo Gomez, Brooks President & CEO. “GFR Developments was an original pioneer of investment in this area with its City Base Landings development and we’re thrilled at their continued interest in and around Brooks. City Base Commons will provide our community with even more great options for dining and shopping.”
City Base Commons will incorporate design features including red brick exteriors with wood grain and metal accents to match the materials used throughout the Brooks campus, specifically the University of Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic medicine. The development will also feature multiple decks for outdoor dining, shaded by beautiful heritage oak trees.
“We are thrilled to be bringing another new development to the Brooks area,” said Adam Schiller, President of GFR Property Services. “We have a great mix of tenants already committed with more to be announced as we get closer to opening. We’ve also reserved two pad sites within this development for future tenants, which will allow for City Base Commons to continue to grow with demand.”
GFR Development Services has a 17 year history in the Brooks area including the development of City Base Landing, City Base West, Presa Court and now City Base Commons. GFR Development Services specializes in urban infill redevelopment throughout South Texas, serving as a one-stop shop for all aspects of commercial development and brokerage.
