It’s time! We are asking for your help to make the one-mile extension of South New Braunfels from Brooks to Loop 410 a reality, a critical project in the successful development of Brooks and the Southside of San Antonio.
The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) is in the process of selecting projects to receive federal transportation funds over the next four years through its Transportation Improvement Program.
Among the 48 projects for consideration is a one-mile extension of South New Braunfels from Brooks to Loop 410, submitted by Brooks and recommended by City of San Antonio staff. This $27.9 million project is only one of two proposed Southside projects, and it has been ranked #1 in its category of Added Capacity.
The proposed road includes a four-lane thoroughfare that connects S.E. Military with Loop 410. The road does not currently exist and will be built to arterial standards. This project is imperative to reduce congestion on SE Military and to improve access to the Brooks campus.
If you agree that the extension of South New Braunfels to Loop 410 is important, we ask that you voice your opinion in any way that you can leading up to the April 2018 decision.

The one-mile extension of South New Braunfels from Brooks to Loop 410 is one of only two projects on the Southside that are under consideration to receive funding and is the only added capacity project. I’m a strong supporter of this project because it will bring more jobs to San Antonio and the Southside in particular by supporting the community’s economic redevelopment efforts at Brooks.
