VIA’s Brooks Transit Center opening this fall

With the new VIA Brooks Transit Center set to open on the northwest corner of South New Braunfels Avenue and Sidney Brooks this fall, connecting to and from San Antonio’s South Side is going to be easier than ever.

The 4,300-square-foot Brooks facility is the seventh Transit Center in the VIA system. It will include convenient passenger amenities such as free parking, air-conditioned waiting space, interior and exterior seating, as well as “smart hub” features, including digital information screens for real-time arrivals, a ticket vending machine, charging ports, bike racks, and free Wi-Fi. Design features include an on-site public art installation by local ceramics master Diana Kersey—part of VIA’s Art in Transit program—to capture the culture and authenticity of the South Side community.

The Brooks Transit Center will feature convenient, high-frequency bus service along eight bus routes, including an Express route to downtown San Antonio and a new Prímo 102 route along Military Drive to VIA’s Kel-Lac Transit Center.

Riding the VIA buses in San Antonio is a breeze. Modern amenities like free systemwide WiFi, a convenient VIA goMobile app, and shorter wait times make commuting easy and enjoyable.
