(SAN ANTONIO) – The Brooks Board of Directors announced today its adoption of a resolution in support of the proposed amendment to the City of San Antonio Charter which would allow the city to issue bonds for permanent public improvements or any other public purpose including affordable housing projects.
“The proposed amendment aligns with Brooks’ priorities to support the housing needs of our surrounding community,” said Board Chairman Jim Campbell. “With more than 3,200 jobs on the Brooks campus today and nearly 2,000 additional jobs promised over the next five years, revitalizing, diversifying and developing new housing options on and around campus is a critical need. The passing of this resolution is intended to help our community to understand the importance of this proposed amendment and its potential impact on the Brooks region. Above all, we hope this action further encourages our community members to exercise their right to vote.”
Early voting by personal appearance will begin Monday, April 19th and continue through Tuesday, April 27th. Election Day is Saturday, May 1st.
Appointed by the San Antonio City Council, the Brooks Board of Directors governs the Brooks Development Authority, which owns and manages the 1,308-acre mixed-use campus.
