In 2002, Brooks Air Force Base was conveyed to Brooks Development Authority, creating the thriving mixed-use Brooks campus we are today. Join us in celebrating our accomplishments this summer with twenty-one unique things to do at Brooks!

The Greenline Park

The Greenline is a 43-acre park in the heart of Brooks that connects to the San Antonio Mission Reach. From family-friendly movie screenings and back to school events, to casting a line in our catch-and-release pond, there are dozens of free ways to get out and have an enjoyable time outdoors. Some of the park features include one mile of illuminated hike and bike trails and nearly 2 miles of jogging trails, fitness stations, one large and three small pavilions for reservations to host parties, and free Wi-Fi. If you happen to take an evening stroll, be sure to check out the park’s public art piece, Running with the Moon, which illuminates at night.

Blastin’ Back to School

Brooks Gives Back has partnered with San Antonio City Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran and the South Texas Business Partnership to provide free services and resources to help families prepare for the new school year. Enjoy free backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, and much more! The event will take place on Sunday, August 13 from 9 am to 11 am and will resume 12 pm to 2 pm at The Greenline.

Paw Park at The Greenline

Bring your furry friends to enjoy Paw Park at The Greenline, the region’s only public dog park. The dog park features separate areas for large and small dogs, water foundations, canopies, and nearly two dozen new trees. Through a partnership with the San Antonio River Authority, both areas have Low Impact Development (LID) features that will protect the park’s pond from contamination.

La Gloria Brooks

Visit La Gloria for lunch, dinner, or even happy hour. The region’s first local, high-end restaurant, this new restaurant slants away from the original “icehouse” ambience of other locations and leans into a contemporary concept customers will love. With marigold-colored walls and Mazatlán-blue ceilings, this new La Gloria is brightened by large sunlit windows, cheerful hand-crafted Mexican folk art, towering ceilings, polished concrete floors, warm wooden accent walls, and ocean-blue custom tables. There’s even a gleaming open kitchen, a large wood-fired grill, and a big, full-service indoor bar to cool off with an agua fresca or margarita.

Visit Hangar 9

Hangar 9 is the only WWI wooden hangar still standing in its original location. Built in 1918, the Hangar is a San Antonio Historic Landmark, listed in the Texas State Historical Survey, the National Register of Historic Places, and is a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. After a nearly $3 million total restoration project, Hangar 9 has been transformed into an event venue, perfect for weddings, galas, and public events.
