Frank Tejeda Lives On Through His Legacy
On April 24, 2019, a South Side legend was honored with his very own statue on the Brooks campus. Frank Tejeda was a Marine and elected official who committed his life to the betterment of the city’s South Side. The sculpture, entitled “Sun Mountain,” was created by one of the city’s most influential artists, Cruz Ortiz, whose style is synonymous with our city.
Frank’s family, including his daughter and grandson, were in attendance, along with Brooks stakeholders. His legacy is alive today and this sculpture from Ortiz serves as a reminder to everyone who gazes upon it.
