(SAN ANTONIO) – Brooks – San Antonio’s fastest-growing mixed-use community – today announced changes to its Board of Directors. The board has elected Jim Campbell to serve as its new chairman and is announcing three of its newest members: Dr. Alicia Reyes-Barrientez, Roland F. Gonzales, and Joe Nix.
Campbell was appointed to the board as the District 1 representative in October 2017 and has helped guide the organization in establishing itself as an economic development engine for the Southside region. He replaces Steven Goldberg, who served as chair since 2017 and a board member since 2012.
“I am honored to expand my role on the Brooks board and help this community continue to further its reputation as a national model of excellence for base redevelopment,” said Campbell. “The team we have in place on the board is comprised of a diverse group of community leaders who believe in Brooks’ mission and vision.”
Campbell is a public affairs consultant providing services in governmental relations, corporate communications, public relations, and business development. His thirty-five year career includes executive positions as Senior Director of Public Affairs for HOLT CAT, Director of External Relations for the City of San Antonio, Senior Director of Governmental Relations and Communications for CPS Energy and Senior Vice President of The DeBerry Group.
“Jim has a unique blend of expertise and experience that has been critical to our success over the past several years,” said Brooks President & CEO Leo Gomez. “We are fortunate that Jim is stepping up to lead this board and share with Brooks his time, talent, and strategic thinking.”
The three newest additions to the Brooks board are:
Dr. Alicia Reyes-Barrientez serves as an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Texas A&M San Antonio. A Brooks resident, she earned her Ph.D. in political science from Duke University.
