SAN ANTONIO – The Board of Directors of the Brooks Development Authority (BDA), the organization responsible for the management and continued redevelopment of Brooks City- Base, has selected Leo Gomez to serve as the new President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Gomez was selected from a field of 402 potential candidates from across the United States in a search process managed by Deacon Recruiting.

Leo Gomez has held the position of Vice President of Public & Government Affairs for Spurs Sports & Entertainment since 1996. He left Spurs Sports & Entertainment for two years to serve as General Manager of Administration with Toyota Manufacturing, Texas, before returning to Spurs Sports & Entertainment in 2005. His distinguished career also includes President of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Vice President of Government Affairs for the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Gomez holds his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Business Administration and his Master’s in Public Affairs from the Lyndon B. Johnson School at the University of Texas.

Regarding the board’s decision, BDA Board Chairman Manuel Pelaez-Prada said, “The Board is appointed by the San Antonio City Council to be good stewards of the resources we have at Brooks City-Base and to make decisions to support this project. Leo Gomez has a strong background of leadership in business and in the community. He knows San Antonio and this region. He understands the political landscape. And perhaps most importantly, he shares our vision for economic development at Brooks City-Base.”

Mr. Gomez will succeed the current Interim President & CEO, Roland Lozano, who was appointed in 2012. Under Mr. Lozano’s leadership, Brooks City-Base received approval for its EB-5 Regional Center and approved leases with the Head and Neck Center of San Antonio, CareNet and Nexolon America.

“Brooks City-Base is what it is today because of the leadership and vision of the City Council, the BDA Board and of leaders like Roland who continue to recognize and seize good development opportunities,” said Gomez. “I am honored to have been chosen for this position and I look forward to working with all of Brooks’ many advocates to continue to develop this treasure in south San Antonio. I also want to thank Spurs Sports & Entertainment for all the support and opportunities it has afforded me.”
